Cats are the ultimate sleepers! Unlike us they are able to sleep for most of the day, taking brief 'catnaps'. However like us thery have different stages of sleep from shallow sleep to deep sleep.

Cats sleep on average 16 hours a day. Unlike us cats do not take their sleep in one stretch. They spread their sleep into shorter segments.

It is unclear as to whether cats dream. When a cat enter 'REM' (rapid eye movement) sleep, a cat will twitch, mutter, meow and snore. All this suggests that they do dream, but it isn't conclusive.
