When the tom cat feels mating is iminent he will sit up and sometimes make a chirping sound. During the courtship the two cats will spend alot of time looking at each other, the queen will blink reassuringly to the tom and the tom will continue to chirp.
The Mating Act The queen when she is ready will crouch down and offer her rump to the tom cat with her tail upright and off to one side. The tom will move towards her arching his back as he does so he will start pelvic thrusts and grab the queen by the neck. This is a grab and not a bite and doesn't break the skin.
The reason for your cat's behaviour maybe due to an underlying medical reason. If you are concerned about your cat, always consult your vet or a cat behaviourist for professional, qualified advice.
